Bigot

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling ...

When:

Lookups spiked on April 29 and again on May 13, 2014.

Why:

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who was banned from the NBA for life after a recording of a racist rant was made public, only made things worse in an interview on CNN when he criticized Magic Johnson's character, HIV status, and community activism. The word bigot was used often in media coverage of the story.

Bigot means "a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc." or "a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)." It comes from a French word that means "hypocrite."
